HOPE Clinic 2nd annual Back to School and Pop-up Health Fair event

Another successful event by the HOPE Clinic was the Second Annual Back 2 School and Pop-Up Health Fair, helping the families and students prepare for their new school year. This event was Heald at the Turkish Cultural Center, partnering with the Iraqi American Community, Saturday, August 13th, 2022. A significant achievement is the 41 sponsors and vendors that were a part of this event, from the city of Houston Health Department, Harris County Health System, hospitals, clinics, Non-profit organizations, Houston Fire Department, and others. In addition, the vendors contributed generously to the community by giving away packages, school supplies, child vaccines, covid19 vaccines, and educational materials.

This year HOPE Clinic served more than 600 hundred children with backpacks, supplies, vaccines, and over 250 families were served with screenings and educational materials. In addition, 100 students received uniforms, and 300 children received free helmets from Taxes Children Hospital for safe riding to enjoy their time outside with their bicycles. The event opened its doors from 10 am until 2 pm, hosting approximately 1,250 community members. Registered attendees were from various communities, which was reflected in the documented languages spoken English, Arabic, Spanish, Urdu, Turkish, Dari, Rohingya, Vietnamese, Pashtu, Chinese, Amharic, and Burmese.

Elected officials attended to recognize the significant efforts of HOPE Clinic to go beyond the walls of their clinic to serve the community. Some of the elected officials that attended were Ashly San Miguel Director of Administration office of Harris County Judge Hidalgo, Council Member Edward Pollard, Texas House Representative District 27 Ronald Eugene Reynolds, Edidiong Obot Community Engagement Coordinate from Commissioner Precinct one Rodney Ellis’s Office.

“HOPE Clinic’s goal is to extend our services beyond and not only providing medical care. We are your Community Health Center, which means that we go beyond our clinic’s walls to serve our patients in the community where they live, work, play, and pray. We look forward to seeing YOU again next year’s event 2023,” said Ms. Sarwa Numan, the Outreach, Event planner and organizer.
